Full Time82211BRJob SummaryThe Assistant Director of Finance
provides fiscal oversight and management, reporting and analysis,
policy interpretation and guidance to department leadership,
managers, financial units, faculty and other staff. The incumbent
holds fiduciary responsibility to ensure financial activities
adhere to University of California and external regulatory policies
and guidelines and that cost accounting principles and standards
are met and establishes and maintains internal controls and
streamlined business processes. Additionally, the Assistant
Director of Finance works closely with the Senior Director of
Finance on planning and execution of departmental short- and
long-term strategic plans as they relate to finance and/or
operations and he/she also functions as a working manager providing
direct fiscal administration, management and planning for
designated department operating funds and activities. This position
will also be responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities
for two (2) Financial Services Analysts who provide direct service
to the department finance operations.The final salary and offer
components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of
factors including your work experience and internal equity within
this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are
represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range
will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $94,400 - $201,800 (Annual
Rate).Department DescriptionThe Department of Obstetrics,
Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences (Ob, Gyn & RS) is a major
academic Department in the School of Medicine, engaged in clinical,
research and training activities at the Parnassus, Mount Zion, and
Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital campuses, the new Betty
Irene Moore Women's Hospital at Mission Bay, as well as satellite
locations throughout the Bay Area, with an annual operating budget
of $149 million. The Department has 100 full-time faculty, 117
other academic appointees, 13 post-doctoral fellows, 20 clinical
fellows, 32 residents, 138 voluntary clinical faculty and 270
staff. The mission of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology &

women through excellence, innovation and leadership in patient
care, scientific discovery, education, advocacy, and diversity,

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area such as accounting, business
administration, finance or closely related field and/or equivalent
experience / training
- 5+ years Finance and/or Accounting experience
- Advanced proficiency in business applications, such as
Microsoft Office
- 3+ years Prior supervisory, managerial or lead experience
especially in overseeing teams of two or more team members
- Extensive knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems,
budgeting and reporting techniques, accounting and bookkeeping
- Solid understanding of financial and resource planning concepts
as well as how to control organizational budgeting
- Ability to prepare and present materials to internal and
external constituents
- Extensive knowledge of human resource policies, practices, and
planning
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally
and in writing
- Advanced skills in the use of spreadsheet and database
software
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work
effectively across the organization at all levels
- Proven ability to deal with changing priorities and direct the
work of others accordingly
- Ability to multi-task
- Demonstrated ability to screen applications, interview
candidates, and either make selection decisions or recommend
individuals for hire
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control
practices and their impact on protecting University resources
- Client services oriented; has good listening, communication,
critical thinking, and analytical skillsPreferred Qualifications
- Experience working with financial, accounting and/or HR systems
with the ability to export and interpret data for financial
analysis or recommendations
- Experience in understanding and applying policies and
procedures in a college/university setting and/or academic medical
institution
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
